Introduction

The aim of 'happy babies' is to provide fun games for babies — games which reflect their growing senses, from birth to one year old.

When born, babies brains are 25% the size of an adult

Within 6 months they are 50%

And within 5 years they are 90%

This growth is about development of the senses — eyes, ears, muscles etc.

Babies' learning is linked to pleasure. They learn by a kind of absorption, so always entertain, never teach.

Happy Babies gives games and ideas for play which entertain.

Having fun and playing games with your baby makes sure your baby enjoys growing – which is easy on you.

How the site works

The 'happy babies' web site offers one or two games and ideas for a wide-awake baby of any age.

Play and games are 'loosely' divided into 4 age groups, reflecting your babies growing needs. They should not be treated rigidly.

Games are very short for young babies –just a minute or two — and rewarding for parents and babies — a great investment for so little time.

A book which accompanies the site, gives further ideas and games for play.

The best approach

Change games and attentions to give variety.

Repetition is good for babies, so regularly return to the same games on different days.

End games with a bit of loving attention - a kiss, tickle or a cuddle.

The illustrations used on the
web site and in the book have been specially produced to appeal to your baby — wide eyes, patterns and colours. They are great to show your baby close-up.

Unless it is exercised early on, the visual system will not develop well.
